Fentanyl Makers Donate $500k Towards Cannabis Anti Legalization Effort
Producers of the controversial drug Fentanyl have donated $500,000 to anti-marijuana legalization groups trying to strike down recreational cannabis in Arizona. Currently Insys only produces one pharmaceutical product, a sublingual form of Fentanyl used in extreme pain management. It’s obviously possible they could be feeling the pressure of recreational cannabis cutting into sales and profits as recent studies have clearly shown medical cannabis reduces the use of opiods in many patients. The donation was made directly to campaign group Arizonans for Responsible Drug Policy on Aug. 31. It’s also worth noting that between 2011 and 2016 Indus also manufactured and sold Marinol, a synthetic form of THC prescribed for the treat of cancer and other serious ailments. While currently not being produced by Indus, they have plans in the works for similar products which make their anti-legalization motivations all the more clear.
